Cutter

A police officer and a businessman hold a conversation in a diner where the topic of discussion is how 'things are never really what they seem.' The words prove fateful as the police officer is slain at the hands of the businessman, who is none other than a hitman known as CUTTER. We flashback to the night before where CUTTER and his girlfriend, ABIGAIL, share an intimate moment together and discuss their coming one year anniversary. Back to the present, Cutter drives to Abigail's apartment while discussing business with his contractor, DON CARAJO, who warns Cutter to watch his back. Cutter merely shrugs off the forewarning. We flashback to one year ago, where Abigail is attacked in a park by a mugger only to be rescued by Cutter. This proves to be the couple's first meeting and the root of their relationship. Back in the present, Cutter arrives at his girlfriend's apartment only to find himself ambushed by several professional assassins. Barely surviving the ordeal with his life, Cutter recognizes one of the assassins as the mugger from one year ago and realizes that nothing is what it seems. We flashback to two years before, where Cutter carries out a hit towards an older businessman and the flashback ends with the revelation that the victim was Abigail's father. Cutter fails to make the connection in time as Abigail appears and deals him a fatal injury, ultimately making him a victim of the very deception he used to make a living.
